A distinct and idiosyncratic personality in a crowded and undifferentiated market.
Greystar engaged us on a new, unnamed residential project in east Austin.
Located near downtown, along the metro line, and amidst a rapidly developing neighborhood of art galleries, coffee shops, and cafés, the project serves as the perfect base from which to live and explore all that the city has to offer.
So, we connected the purpose of the project with its location and offered a name to tell this story: Platform.
No rules, no problem.
We tapped into the vernacular of industrial transportation graphics to design an identity system that was about more about capturing a mood than following strict rules. We used a variety of typefaces, each with it's own distinct purpose, to communicate the eclectic nature of the place.
Leasing center meets gallery space.
To share the concept with prospective residents, we designed a pop-up leasing space in the art gallery across the street. In just three weeks we planned the layout out the space, selected and procured furniture, curated as well as created art, and opened up for pre-leasing. Custom railroad tie shelves displayed the finish options in the apartments and featured lighting that would be used in the apartment's corridors.
Details, details, details.
The idiosyncratic nuances of the identity were further realized in the built environment—from building identification to room plaques. A wide variety of fabrication methods were used—including hand-painting, neon, and mixed-media signage to further enhance the experience.
